New STM and STG Logos Registered with DJKI, Strengthening Corporate Identity Protection

Jakarta, November 18, 2025 — The new logos of PT Sumbawa Timur Mining (STM) and its affiliated geothermal company, PT Sumbawa Timur Geothermal (STG), are officially registered with the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI) under the Ministry of Law of the Republic of Indonesia. This step underscores the companies’ commitment to preserving originality and brand value in the mining and geothermal industries, as well as promoting good corporate governance. The trademark certificates for the logos were issued under numbers IDM001381948 (STM) and IDM001390166 (STG).

This registration follows the launch of STM’s new logo in April 2025 and the establishment of STG in December 2024. The issuance of these trademark certificates is a strategic move to protect visual identity and strengthen corporate image. Usage rights for STM and STG logos now have a clear legal foundation, preventing others from copying, counterfeiting, or using the logos without permission.

STM Government Relations Analyst Rizky Wahidin, who supported the registration process, stated that the entire process was conducted online. The application required submitting administrative documents. “When creating a new application, we had to fill out forms and upload supporting data such as the brand label and the President Director’s signature as the applicant. Once submitted, the application would be reviewed by DJKI,” he explained.

In addition to document completeness, it is also important to determine the trademark class to be registered. Trademark classes are a classification system used to group goods and services in trademark applications in Indonesia, based on the international Nice Classification system, which consists of 45 classes. “One of the classes registered by STM and STG is Class 40 for providers of goods/services in the field of mineral resource processing and transformation, as well as renewable energy power generation,” Rizky added.

After passing the initial examination, the application proceeds to obtain a trademark certificate from DJKI. STM’s logo trademark certificate was issued on September 23, 2025, followed by STG’s logo on October 27, 2025. The issuance process takes approximately seven months due to several comprehensive stages, such as formalities check, announcement period, substantive examination, substantive examination, registration, and certificate issuance. Other factors contributing to the longer process include the high volume of applications and potential objections from third parties.

“Although the process took quite a long time, registering intellectual property rights for company logos is essential to secure legal protection, prevent imitation, and enhance business value. This registration also grants the company exclusive rights to the logo, making it a valuable asset and preventing unauthorized use by others. If violations occur in the future, the company has the right to file a lawsuit,” Rizky emphasized.
